Privacy notice

I am Tim Dennis, a sole trader based in King's Lynn. I decide what happens to the information you send through this site, which makes me the data controller for it. You can reach me at [email protected].

I do not publish a postal address because I work from home. If you need one in writing, for a data request or anything else, email me and I will give it to you directly.

What the form collects

When you send the enquiry form, I receive:

• Your name and your business name
• Your email address and, if supplied, your phone number
• Your type of business, and what you said you were after
• Anything you wrote in the message box
• Which page you sent it from, and the page you arrived from
• The time it was sent

The form also carries a hidden field that only automated submissions fill in, and a timestamp used to spot a form filled in faster than a person can type. Both exist to keep spam out and neither tells me anything about you.

Why I am allowed to hold it

Because you asked me to. Sending the form is a request for me to do something for you, so the lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract. Keeping the record afterwards, so I know what was said and when, rests on my legitimate interest in running the business and being able to evidence what was agreed.

I do not send marketing. There is no mailing list, so there is nothing to unsubscribe from.

The free quote template

The quote you make at /quote-templateis drawn in your browser and kept in your browser's local storage, so it's there when you come back. Your customer's name, address and email, and the prices you enter, are never sent to me or anybody else.

To download or send the PDF, you give me your name and email address and tick a box agreeing that I can contact you by email or phone about the template and the system I build. That consent is the lawful basis. With them I receive your business name, phone number and trade from the quote, and a one-line summary: how many lines it has, the total, and whether you charge VAT. It goes through the same route as the enquiry form, below, and is kept for the same time.

You can withdraw that consent whenever you like by replying to any email from me or emailing the address above, and I'll stop.

Where it goes

When you press send, two things happen in this order:

1. The enquiry is written as a row to a private Google Sheet, which is my record of what came in. The form sends it through Google Apps Script.
2. Google Apps Script also sends a notification to my Gmail inbox so I can respond to you.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, so Cloudflare handles the request and keeps short-lived server logs, including your IP address, in the ordinary course of serving and protecting the site. If the enquiry cannot be saved, the form shows an error and gives you a way to contact me directly.

Google and Cloudflare are processors acting on my instructions. Some of them process data outside the UK, under the transfer safeguards in their own terms. I do not sell your details, I do not pass them to other trades, and I do not add them to anybody's marketing list.

The website checker

The free checker at /check asks for a web address, and a business name and town if you’d like to give them. It doesn’t need an email address or a phone number.

I keep the address, the name, the town and the report, so the report’s link keeps working for anyone you send it to. To stop the checker being overused, I also keep a scrambled version of your IP address that can’t be turned back into the address. The check runs your site through Google’s PageSpeed test and a Google Maps search, and reads the business details your website already publishes, such as its phone number and email address.

I’m sent each check, the same way as an enquiry: a row in my enquiry log and an email, with the address checked, the details read off that website and the score. It’s how I know who’s used the checker. Being checked doesn’t put anyone on a list.

If you ask for a copy of a report, I use your email address to send you its link, and it’s logged with the request. I only get in touch about your website if you tick the box that says I can.

If you want a report taken down, email me and I’ll delete it.

Cookies and measurement

Analytics cookies are only set after you accept. Your cookie choice, including a rejection, is saved in your browser’s local storage so the banner can remember it.

If you press Accept, I use Google Analytics to see which pages get read. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_8XMH4HFQ0S, which stay for up to two years and let Google tell a repeat visit from a new one. Google processes that data as my processor, and it is the one thing on this site that can follow you between visits. That is precisely why you are asked first rather than told afterwards.

The Google tag script is requested before you choose, so Google receives the connection information needed to serve that script, including your IP address. Page-view measurement is configured only after you accept. If you reject, analytics storage stays off. Clearing your browser storage makes the banner ask again.

With JavaScript turned off, none of the above runs. No tag loads, no cookie is set, and no banner appears, because there is nothing to ask about.

The two typefaces are served from this site rather than from Google Fonts or any other font service, so no third party sees your address in order to draw the page. Before 7 September 2026 they came from Bunny Fonts, which saw an IP address per request and stated that it did not log them; now nobody outside this site sees one.

How long I keep it

If your enquiry does not turn into work, I keep it for two years and then delete both the sheet row and the email. Two years because people come back, and it is unhelpful for both of us if I have no memory of a conversation we had last spring.

If you become a client, I keep the records for as long as I am working for you, and then for six years afterwards, to keep a record of the work, payments and what was agreed.

What you can ask me to do

You can ask for a copy of what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it, ask me to restrict what I do with it, or object to my holding it at all. Email me and I will deal with it within a month, which is what the law allows me. There is no charge.

Deleting on request means deleting: the sheet row and the email both go, not just the one that is easier to reach.

If you think I have handled your information badly, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, and you do not need my permission to do that.

Changes

If what the form does changes, this page changes at the same time rather than afterwards. The date at the top tells you when that last happened.
